Diana Franco, the executive director of WE NYC, a city government program that provides support services for women entrepreneurs, says that an estimated 35%-40% of the more than 9,000 participants in the program since 2015 have been Hispanic.

Non-Latina women with IPV histories also had worse health across many indicators compared to non-abused women, but the differences were not as pronounced. The COVID-19 outbreak has affected data collection efforts by the U.S. government in its surveys, especially limiting in-person data collection. This resulted in about a 10 percentage point decrease in the response rate for the CPS in March and April 2020 compared with preceding months and an even greater decrease in May 2020.

Latina women also migrate with their families in an effort to seek refuge from violence and political instability in their native countries.

The Pay Gap Actually Widens For Women At Higher Education Levels8

Disaggregating the white male premium and the Hispanic woman penalty for various subgroups of Hispanic women can help paint a fuller picture of wage gaps for Hispanic workers based on country of origin, immigration history, and education. This methodological approach demonstrates how white men and Hispanic women of different countries of origin are respectively advantaged and disadvantaged compared to other workers in the economy, while also facilitating a direct wage comparison between the two groups.
